The adventures of Lewis and Clark

The fifth graders have been working very hard on acting believable. We do this by getting in touch with our senses to create an environment. An Actor needs to create the 5 W’s. Who; Who are they playing in the scene and what is their relationship with the other characters. Where are they? Where is their setting. What; What are they doing in the scene. When; when does their scene take place, and finally Why. Why are they doing what they are doing. What is their objective or their goal in the scene. Creating all of this and using their memory as a tool can make an actors acting authentic.

All of these skills are preparing  the 5th graders for auditions for “Lewis and Clark” this week. In addition, we have been rehearsing breathing with our diaphragm, projecting, articulating and having inflection. Each student will read from the script for a character that they choose. I am excited to see what each students does in their own unique way! Break a leg kids!!! You are ready.
